Nap Time

October 5th, 2009 by prettythoughts

My daughter has been taking 1 nap per day now and I just got used to it. She goes down anywhere between 1 and 2 PM and wakes up anywhere between 3:30 and 4:30 PM. Today however she was a bit cranky so I put her down around 11 AM to see if she would go to sleep. It’s now 11:30 AM and I think she is finally sleeping. Who knows maybe I will get the good old 2 naps in today. (Doubtful but one can dream). I really was getting to like the 1 nap per day because it let us go out and about in the morning then she was ready to eat lunch or a snack and go down for a solid 2-3 hrs and I could relax. It’s tough though on days like today when we don’t have anywhere to go and when I am trying not to go out for no reason. Staying home she tends to get more cranky because we run out of things to play. LOL She is an amazingly well behaved baby and we are so lucky and blessed. She is the BEST! Well, now it’s time for my coffee treat. :)

Damn Lawn People!!

October 2nd, 2009 by prettythoughts

We live in a condo complex and all Summer long the lawn people would start at 7 AM every Friday which undoubtedly disturbed my little bug. Then again at her 10:30 AM nap time they just so happen to start again. Then again at her 3:30 PM nap time they decided it would be cool to start yet again. I couldn’t win and this was ongoing every Friday. Now that she is on a new nap schedule, she only naps from about 1:30 PM or 2 PM til about 4 PM. So today, Friday, somehow these lawn people have adapted to my daughter’s nap schedule yet again!!! LOL Go figure? I went to put her down at 1:30 PM and guess what starts up? The ginormous, heinous sounding lawn equiptment! I never thought there would be any good side to Michigan Winters… but at least my daughter will be able to nap! Haha.

My changing baby!

August 12th, 2009 by prettythoughts

Oh wow she is growing right before my eyes. She is almost 10 months old now. Her behaviors are changing, she is learning new things like waving and pointing. One change that has not set so easily with me is her new napping requirements. She always took two naps per day. The first around 10:30 AM and the second around 3:30. Lately, she has been falling asleep around 11:30 AM and waking up around 1:30 PM. Then I would put her down at 4:00 PM and that would work and she would then sleep until around 6:00 PM. Then a few days ago she started refusing her afternoon nap! She wasn’t crying when I put her down at 4:00 PM, but she was just not sleeping. I feel totally guilty leaving her in her crib for two hours if she isn’t even sleeping. This drove me crazy. So today, I bit the bullet and did it. I tried the one nap per day thing. My intention was to see how she was behaving all morning and put her down at 1:00 PM. Well after our walk about about 11:30 AM, we came home and she basically had a melt down on the living room floor. I thought to myself, “Ok, she must be exhausted.” And I put her to bed. She was quiet for about ten minutes and I thought she was sleeping. Then suddnely she started making noise and was playing. Well, it was only 11:40 AM so I figured I would get her out and keep her up until 1:00 PM so she could take one long, afternoon nap. So that is what we did.I fed her lunch at 1:00 PM and put her right in her crib after that. I think she fell asleep around 1:30-1:45 PM. I hope she sleeps til 4:00 PM! Haha. It’s gonna take some getting used to, for the both of us. I was really content with those two naps, especially the later one…  the morning nap was a good time for me to get cleaning done, start dinner, and do random things around the house and the later nap was for ME! I would have coffee, lay down, relax,or even finish dinner. Well, as long as I can keep her nap later in the day, I think I will be ok. :)

Crawling like crazy!!!!!!

July 1st, 2009 by prettythoughts

My little lady has been crawling for almost a month now but just recently she has really picked up speed! She is into everything! The condo is not huge so no matter where she goes, she is into mischief. There are always about a gazillion toys on the floor for her to play with and keep entertained, but for some reason the only things she is interested is the panels we have for blinds on our door-wall and the books that are in our entertainment center. Oh and the magazines in the rack. It seems like everything that ISN’T a toy is much more interesting than all her toys. I am convinced that the toy inventors are morons. The bright colors and rattling sounds do nothing for children. Put a rattle or even a toy that lights up next to the television remote and the child will go for the tv remote very time. Haha. I wish I could invent more realistic and effective toys!

You know your baby is beautiful when…

April 20th, 2009 by prettythoughts

When it’s not just you and your spouse who think he/she is adorable. When strangers come up to you in the mall, or the grocery store, church, the park, etc. just to tell you how pretty your baby is. I am not trying to brag but my baby is a beauty! She has gorgeous eyes and chubby cheeks, perfect full lips and a cute nose. I am not sure who she looks like, my husband or myself. I think she has eyes from my side of the family, hair color from my husbands… I can never tell who a baby looks like until their features are more developed. Many people say at first glance she looks a lot like my husband. Then other people say she looks a lot like her cousins (my brother’s kids). Some parents are blinded by love when it comes to the way they view their children. I am not only referring to looks but behavior as well. My child is only 6 months old but I do believe that I would be able to realize if she wasn’t a pretty baby and when she is older I won’t have the “she can do no wrong” image of her.

Kicks and Flutters!

July 17th, 2008 by prettythoughts

I am 27 weeks pregnant and I am feeling more and more kicks and flutters every day! It is such an amazing feeling. Last night at around 3 AM I was being kicked so much that was laughing out loud in bed. My husband asked why I was laughing and I said “Lola is kicking like crazy!!!” It is so fun to know that there is a little baby inside there. I feel her getting so big now. Before when she’d kick it would be in one general area. Now it’s like she is getting so long that when she kicks I feel her on opposite ends of my body! :) I cannot believe that we only have 13 weeks to go! I remember the first 13 going by super fast, and I have a feeling that the last 13 will go by fast as well. With the shower coming up in a month and getting her room ready we will be so busy time will fly. This weekend I plan to paint one of the walls of her room pink since the rest is already a pretty green. This is such an amazing time for my husband, myself, and our families. We are super anxious for our little Lola Margherite to arrive! :)
