Nap Time

October 5th, 2009 by prettythoughts

My daughter has been taking 1 nap per day now and I just got used to it. She goes down anywhere between 1 and 2 PM and wakes up anywhere between 3:30 and 4:30 PM. Today however she was a bit cranky so I put her down around 11 AM to see if she would go to sleep. It’s now 11:30 AM and I think she is finally sleeping. Who knows maybe I will get the good old 2 naps in today. (Doubtful but one can dream). I really was getting to like the 1 nap per day because it let us go out and about in the morning then she was ready to eat lunch or a snack and go down for a solid 2-3 hrs and I could relax. It’s tough though on days like today when we don’t have anywhere to go and when I am trying not to go out for no reason. Staying home she tends to get more cranky because we run out of things to play. LOL She is an amazingly well behaved baby and we are so lucky and blessed. She is the BEST! Well, now it’s time for my coffee treat. :)

Pancake Breakfast

October 2nd, 2009 by prettythoughts

I am super excited for my Uncle’s pancake breakfast on Sunday. He is the fire chief and every year his department has a pancake breakfast and afterwards it was always tradition for my family to take a trip to the cidermill. We continued that tradition last year even after my Mom had passed away just weeks before. She had always wanted to keep our family close so that’s what I am going to try my best to do. Weather permitting, after the pancake breakfast, we will be headed out to the cider mill, missing my Mom but adding my beautiful daughter. Life is weird isn’t it?

Damn Lawn People!!

October 2nd, 2009 by prettythoughts

We live in a condo complex and all Summer long the lawn people would start at 7 AM every Friday which undoubtedly disturbed my little bug. Then again at her 10:30 AM nap time they just so happen to start again. Then again at her 3:30 PM nap time they decided it would be cool to start yet again. I couldn’t win and this was ongoing every Friday. Now that she is on a new nap schedule, she only naps from about 1:30 PM or 2 PM til about 4 PM. So today, Friday, somehow these lawn people have adapted to my daughter’s nap schedule yet again!!! LOL Go figure? I went to put her down at 1:30 PM and guess what starts up? The ginormous, heinous sounding lawn equiptment! I never thought there would be any good side to Michigan Winters… but at least my daughter will be able to nap! Haha.

Afternoon Treat

October 2nd, 2009 by prettythoughts

These days I have been super into black coffee brewed at home by yours truly. It’s a great way to cut the sweet craving in the middle of the day. It also gives me time to relax while my little bug is taking her nap. So I have been drinking it black for quite some time but since it is fall, I had to go out to Bigby and get a pumpkin spice coffee. Let me tell you it was DELICIOUS! I mean I would never get it everyday since it is about 5 bucks for a small and about a gazillion calories but it got me thinking. I could jazz up my coffee at home. So I bought light whipped cream and I put that on time with s few sprinkles of cinnamon. YUMM! I think I may go out and get a pumkpin flavor to add to it at home, but then again I may just save that for getting in on special occassions so I don’t consume all that unnecessary sugar. Either way, it’s delicious and I love this afternoon treat while relaxing in front of the computer or sitting on the couch reading. I love my quiet time. :)

Halloween Decorations

October 2nd, 2009 by prettythoughts

Today is October 1st and I have busted out my little Halloween decorations. I have a small tree that used to be my Mom’s. It is garnished with orangle lights and I had my own string of pumpkin lights that I wrapped around the tree as well. I also have a fiberoptic witch that used to be my Mom’s and she is sitting on top of my entertainment center tower. I really love my end table covers and my light up pumpkin lamp. I have a few other small nick nacks such as a ceramic spook house with a spot for a candle. I love Halloween and am so happy to be able to share it now with my little daughter.

Snack Time!

October 2nd, 2009 by prettythoughts

For some reason I am in LOVE with night time snack time. I can go all day eating totally healthy (newly after I had my daughter) but when it comes to night snacking, I am all over it. After dinner I usually want something sweet immediately. If we finish dinner later I will usually just have a small sweet treat, but if we have a smaller dinner and it ends up still being pretty early, I willgo for a salty snack followed by a sweet one! I can’t help myself ever since I became a Mommy. <3

Dream House

September 27th, 2009 by prettythoughts

So I found my dream house, in my dream location and with dream amenities. Not only is it MY dream house but my husbands as well. It has so many postive aspects such as it is only a few years old, it is owned by a doctor and kept immaculately clean, it had a pool in the subdivision, the basement is partially finished and plumbed for a bathroom, there are three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The landscaping is absolutely gorgeous and the price is just as nice. However, there are huge downfalls as to why we cannot have this house right now. First off we own the condo we are in. Things are not selling right now and if by some miracle it did sell, they are going for half the price of what my husband bought it for about four years ago. Secondly, even if we were to rent it out or let it go to the bank, banks are much more strict about mortgages these days and there is no way we’d get approved for a second mortgage. If I was working, well getting paid for my hard work of being a stay at home Mommy, then things woul dbe easier. I could be on th emortgage, but since that isn’t the case it seems like we are stuck. I have a gut feeling about this and really think if there is a will there is a way. I can’t let this house and opportunity to have a better life for my family so I am committed to doing whatever we can to make this work, starting with saving better for a down payment. I know I will think of a plan, I just hope it happens before the house is off the market. I don’t wanna be stuck in the condo (although it is lovely just small) forever.

Jeans

August 27th, 2009 by prettythoughts

Oh how I despise jean shopping and that is why I am not gonna do it. Well, not until I want to take the plunge and purchase the only brand that fits… Paige Jeans are the ONLY jeans that contour to my body and the downfall is, they are about $200+. Needless to say they aren’t really in my cards right now. Maybe after the carpet is in, and we are back to a normal state I will be able to splurge and get my new jeans just in time for the Fall. I will not however, every waste my time again trying on jeans of a shallower dollar amount. Although I would LOVE to and I am not an advocate of wasting money on clothes when you can easily get the same things for cheaper (Just not designer), unfortunately I have no choice when it comes to jeans. See, I love wearing jeans, I can even sleep in them if need be. (Trust me, late night parties make this necessary). This is why they MUST be perfect. Most jeans I try on are WAY too big, especially in the thighs. Some smash my ass, and some make it look like a granny. Oh, but not Paige. They are amazing, the perfect small butt pockets make my butt look nice and round and cute, they fit nice and snug in the thighs and the waist it nice and low (just under my hips). The only downfall is that I am only 5″2 but with regular length legs not short but the jeans run so long that I have to get them tailored. Hey they fit where it matters so I don’t mind paying the $15 extra bucks to get them shortened a bit. I absolutely love those jeans and now I am getting excited for my new ones just writing about it! Soon I tell myself, soon. ;)   FYI, if you are tiny and petite (I mean small people, pretty damn small), and have a difficult time finding sexy jeans, try Paige, I swear by them!!! And no I can’t purchase kids jeans…. I hate when people ask that. Kids jeans are shaped completely different than women’s jeans. They are wider and more square, and definitely shorter. Children do not take a womanly shape that is WHY they are kids jeans, not just because they are smaller. Trust me there are many “kids” that are a heck of a lot bigger than I am. Ok well, happy jean hunting!!!!!!!!!!!

Why Kroger SUCKS

August 24th, 2009 by prettythoughts

Kroger SUCKS because…………………….

A. Their beef is pretty gamey

B. They advertise baby food on sale, and their SALE price is still a penny more than Meijer’s regular price

C. I bought milk at Meijer over a week ago and then I needed more to make some homeade frosting so I stopped at Kroger 2 days ago… the milk I bought a week ago at Meijer has a later expiration date than the Kroger milk I bought 2 days ago

D. Kroger brand ice cream that they advertise at an amazing price can’t be called ice cream, because it’s not ice cream

E. Kroger brand tortilla chips have about 10 chips inside a regular size chip bag

This is all I can think of that the moment… but I’m sure I will remember more… ;)

New Carpet!!! Oh happy day!

August 24th, 2009 by prettythoughts

I have had it with this old carpet of ours! While I was pregnant we replaced the carpet in our daughter’s room and the entire basement. This left us with old carpet in the living room and our bedroom. It wasn’t too bad and we got it professionally clean so it was looking pretty nice for about a minute…haha. When things are old, they just never get as “clean” as they should no matter how hard you scrub or how much you pay. Either way, when it comes down to it, when something is old, it’s old. I couldn’t take it anymore, the doggie mess stains on this light colored, already warn and over used carpet was really getting on my last nerve. My husband and I found a local carpet company called Richmond Interiors online. We spontaneously drove there over the weekend to find ourselves very pleased and ready to make the move. The company was advertising carpet remnants at a highly discounted price so my husband and I picked out a carpet that fit our needs… darker in color for our “doggie” situation since we have 2 dogs and one of them is very old and prone to making mistakes, comfortable, and affordable. We found the carpet right away and the sincerity and kindness of the business owner seeled the deal. The man was extrememly helpful, generous, and friendly. I am so very excited to be getting new carpet. Hopefully with the plastic runners you can find in Model Homes, this will prevent at least some of the messes my beautiful little dog may make in the future. Plus this new carpet is pre-treated therefore it will aid in preventing penetration of the stain. OH HAPPY DAY I cannot wait until it is installe dnext week. What I am not looking forward to however is all the work that lies ahead of me. Looking around this house my head is spinning thinking about all the little things I need to pack up and put somewhere in order to move the furniture. Baby toys, nick nacks, the entire bottomof by bedroom closet, etc. Not to meantion my husband and Father have to move all the furniture out of the living room and bedroom in order to rip up the old carpet this coming weekend. Saturday morning we have to bring Stitch to my mother-in-law’s house because my Dad isn’t fond of a boy dog who lifts his leg and may go potty on his expesive things… as for myself, my husband, my daughter, and Tippy, we will be camping out at Dad’s this coming weekend. Friday I will be packing stuff away and clearing shelves, and Saturday they will be moving all of the furniture and ripping up the old carpet. Hopefull it will all be done by Saturday but if not at least they have Sunday as well. Monday is the day!!!! Good thing the dogs will be elsewhere and my sister will be watching my little lady over at my Dad’s house.  A house with no carpet is no place for a baby to be crawling around!!! By the way, have I mentioned how excited I am?! Hehehe. :)
